A BIG thank you to our veterans from Offerpad

Offerpad is proud to celebrate Veterans Day and honor the brave and dedicated men and women who served our country, as well as those who continue to do so.

We are fortunate to work daily with a few veterans at our corporate and field offices and couldn’t be prouder to call them our colleagues and friends. We also have the pleasure of working with spouses of veterans and military members every day. We want to take a moment to publicly thank them for their service to us, our country, and the direct support they give our heroes.

Thank you!

Offerpad honors its veterans

We have grown exponentially since our start in 2015. With our growth, we have steadily been able to do more and more for our customers and employees. We have plans to continue faster growth over the next few years and as we continue, we aim to realize more and more of what we have on our lists about our values and how we want to give back. One of the things Offerpad often discusses is ways to benefit veterans and military families. At a recent company-wide meeting, our CEO discussed the company’s progress, future, and new updates. He was proud to announce that starting this year, Offerpad will designate Veterans Day a paid holiday for our veterans. We’ll honor our veteran employees by giving them a day to celebrate their military service with their families away from the office. They’ll certainly be missed on Monday, but we’ll be happy they get to observe the day that they more than deserve to celebrate.

Veterans at Offerpad

Of the 18.5 million veterans in this country, Offerpad is proud to work daily with a handful. One of our veterans is Director of People Operations, Dornan McGuire. She served in the US Navy, based in Seattle, in various capacities including Administrative and Security functions (including K-9). She is proud of her military service and deeply appreciates anyone who is serving or has served. As Offerpad continues to experience hyper-growth, one program she’d like to initiate is a partnership with military installations and their Transition Assistance Programs within the markets Offerpad serves. Transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging so Dornan would love to help these heroes move into the civilian workforce smoothly. Still, a relatively small operation, Offerpad’s veterans, spouses, and their family members comprise almost 5% of our employee body. We are working daily to make Dornan’s dream a reality at Offerpad by creating a culture and implementing hiring strategies that attract talent including veterans (and spouses) to position us as an Employer of Choice. With this in mind, her team posts Offerpad’s open roles on veterans’ job boards like HireVeterans.com. Offerpad is a proud employer of these veterans and we hope to bring on more American heroes.

Helping military families move freely

We understand that military families experience life differently than most other families. One example is that they move much more frequently than is traditional. We’re happy to provide a service that might help these moving families circumvent the traditional pain points of the real estate process that they have to endure so often. Of all our customers, Offerpad is proud to share that a good percentage of these moving families represent veterans or active members of the United States military. We currently work in nine major metro areas around the country and each one has multiple military bases nearby and undoubtedly hundreds of military families. We are happy to be available for them to make their moving woes less stressful.

About Veterans Day

In case you need a refresher, here’s a very brief backgrounder on Veterans Day. Not to be confused with Memorial Day – the day set aside to remember those heroes who died while serving in the armed forces which we observe on the final Monday in May each year – Veterans Day is observed in November and honors all who have served in the United States military. The observance originated as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Seven years later, Congress passed a resolution for the annual observance of Armistice Day on November 11 and later it was declared a national holiday in 1938. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation to change the name of the holiday to Veterans Day in 1954 in order to honor the brave heroes who served in all American wars.

Today, the national holiday pays special respect to all military veterans around the country. It’s commemorated with parades, speeches and remembrance ceremonies. There are many ways you can participate this Veterans Day such as thanking the military veterans you know, reminding others to do the same via social media and attending a Veterans Day event near you. There are countless commemorative events taking place throughout the country this weekend. In fact, where we’re headquartered in Arizona, there’s an entire list of events throughout Phoenix and the East Valley – check them out here. No matter where you are around the country, it won’t be hard to find veterans to thank and great events near you to show your appreciation and support.

Happy Veterans Day and a huge Thank You from all of us at Offerpad.
