Do You Know the 3 P’s of Curb Appeal?

Did you know that homes with high curb appeal tend to sell for an average of 7% more than similar houses with a less than inviting exterior?1

Making sure your home makes a good first impression with potential buyers before they even walk in the door can be a challenging part of selling a home. But here are three tips to help up the curb appeal of your home. Just remember the 3 P’s:

A little color goes a long way.

You don’t have to go to the expense of repainting the exterior of your entire house. A brightly painted front door or shutters can make a home really stand out so buyers take notice, especially in a neighborhood of look-alike, cookie-cutter homes. Broaden your home’s paint palette with some of these inviting colors for inspiration.

Go green.

There’s nothing like some fresh flowers and shrubbery to make potential buyers hit the brakes in front of a house for sale. Plant a whole flowerbed or freshen it up with mulch to add color and contrast. Simply putting some brightly colored potted plants on the porch or along a walkway can also help make buyers feel at home at first glance.

No pressure curb appeal.

Keep home buyers from kicking your house to the curb before they even look inside with a quick pressure wash. Renting a pressure washer for a few hours to hose down driveways and garage floors, blast mildew and other unsightly stains from walls, and clean out storm gutters can take years away from the look of a home for a fresh first impression.
