Offerpad’s Featured Employee: Ashley Chessin

Get to know our National Director of Operations, Selling Division

Offerpad is a company full of great people. From time to time, we like to shine the spotlight on a member of the Offerpad family and recognize them for their hard work and all around. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work for one of the fastest-growing and exciting startups in the iBuyer industry, you’re about to get a firsthand look. We’d like to introduce you to Ashley Chessin, our National Director of Operations, Selling Division.

Getting started with Offerpad

Ashley was originally hired by Offerpad in 2017, one of the company’s earliest employees. Somewhat apropos, a frustrating home buying experience ultimately led her to Offerpad. Motivated to help people avoid a similar situation, Ashley earned her real estate license and sold traditionally until an intriguing job offer from an up-and-coming startup presented itself. Recognizing a shared vision to provide consumers a simple solution for buying and selling homes, she applied. Not long after, Ashley was named as the company’s first contract coordinator.

As anyone from a startup background will tell you, your role can rapidly evolve and suddenly encompass a whole heck of a lot; Ashley excelled under those conditions, quickly proving herself as a valuable member of the team. “I didn’t have a specific job, necessarily. Early on, you just did whatever needed to be done.”

Nowadays, Ashley still wears a lot of hats, but her role is more defined — she oversees a larger team since her early days as Offerpad has grown, too. As she puts it, “We do everything from overseeing when the home is listed to when it’s sold.” She assists Offerpad’s divisional leaders with everyday operations, ensuring the ship runs smoothly and everyone has what they need to deliver on Offerpad’s impressive offerings.

On what makes a good Offerpad employee

Having played a role in shaping the company’s culture, Ashley has a pretty good eye for what makes a great Offerpad employee. As she puts it, it all comes down to the ‘care factor’. “Our people truly care about the customer, building the business, and their position within the company. Offerpad is full of talented people who care about supporting others inside and outside of the company and want to help revolutionize the real estate industry.”

Having been with Offerpad for multiple years and seeing the company through tremendous growth cycles, Ashley’s experienced a lot in her position. What does she love most about working here? She says, “It changes all the time,” adding, “I love that you have the ability to grow something that matters and is necessary for the market.” She notes, “Some companies have set policies, operate with a this is how it’s always been done mentality. That’s not the case here. I love that we’re encouraged to be our authentic selves, to be transparent. I find that’s the best way to affect positive change and build a great culture.”

Well said, Ashley.

Life outside of Offerpad

As much as she does around here, Ashley isn’t always in business mode. Outside of Offerpad, she likes to spend time in her garden. Life in Arizona gave her a newfound appreciation for desert plants that can survive the harsh summer months. She also makes sure to soak up leisure time with her husband whenever possible. “Honestly, some of our favorite activities include eating and binging stuff on Netflix,” she laughs.

Ashley Chessin is an awesome member of the team and helps brighten every new day at Offerpad. She’s a great example of what it means to put people first, one of our core values. We’re thrilled we had a chance to recognize her contributions and learn a little bit more about her, including…

  • Her favorite show is The Office
  • Her favorite movie is Lost in Translation
  • Her favorite ice cream is rocky road
  • At one point in her life, her email handle was horselover63 … we’ll let you imagine how recently

Finally, as part of this featured employee spot, we Googled a random ‘Would You Rather’ question for Ashley to answer — her response was… illuminating.

Would you rather be a reverse centaur or a reverse mermaid/merman?”.

Ashley: (with zero hesitation) “Reverse centaur. For sure. First off, I have a deeply rooted fear of the open ocean… wild water, whatever. So, the fish thing is out, completely. Having opposable thumbs is also a luxury. Wait… what exactly does a reverse centaur look like?”

We’re not sure about that, but we are about one thing: we’re lucky to have you aboard, Ash!
