How long has it been since you’ve looked at life hanging upside down on the monkey bars?
It can really change your perspective on things. Just ask any kid on the playground.
Kids love to play. It’s a serious part of growing up. Many life skills — teamwork, sharing, decision making, leadership — are honed on the playground. Not to mention learning how to just have fun.
That’s why the impact of safe, clean, accessible playgrounds is so important for the health and wellness of kids in our communities. And why Offerpad was proud to sign on as a partner on this year’s Playground Project in St. Louis, Missouri.
Local CBS news station KMOV partnered with the Make an Impact Foundation to build a playground for children at the Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis in August. The Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to inspiring local youths to be the best they can be, offering programs and services that teach kids life skills that can help shape their futures.
Positive community impact
A member of the St. Louis community just since September of last year, Offerpad was excited to be one of six community partners who sponsored the KMOV News 4 Playground Project. Now kids ages 2-12 have a place to play, exercise and build relationships outdoors in a fun environment. More than 10 “Offerpad Cares” volunteers helped build the playground and were on hand for the official ribbon-cutting on August 22.
“We’re in the business of helping people find their forever home, and a big part of what makes a home a home is the community that surrounds it,” shared Bobby Triplett, senior vice president of Renovations and Offerpad volunteer. “Our children constantly learn and progress through play. Instead of spending time in front of a video screen, playgrounds have a positive impact on their health and wellness including emotional, social, mental and physical benefits.
“Our heart is to leave our community better than we found it and projects like this are the very embodiment of that idea. We are honored to be a small part of leaving these kids and families a little bit better today.”
We look forward to accomplishing even more incredible things — including building more playgrounds! — not just in St. Louis but in all 28 markets where Offerpad is currently available across the country. Every one of our employees can take up to 40 hours of paid volunteer time a year during business hours to help local nonprofit organizations.
Participating in the Playground Project was a great way, too, to celebrate our almost one-year anniversary of helping our neighbors in St. Louis change their perspective on the traditional way of buying and selling a home. With an all-in-one way to buy, sell and get a mortgage, Offerpad can do literally (almost) everything, so you can do less ‘real estat-ing’ and more living. You could even save thousands when you bundle services.
