Seeking unicorns: Offerpad hosts private HackerX event

We’re still feeling energized from the recent HackerX event we hosted at our national headquarters in Chandler, AZ. This was an exciting chance for us to connect with many talented developers and give them a full download on Offerpad, highlighting what makes our tech company a great place to build a career.

For the uninitiated, HackerX is sort of like speed dating for developers and tech companies. During these invite-only events, developers have an opportunity to sit down and introduce themselves to top startups making waves in their respective industries; for tech companies, it’s a great opportunity to get a firsthand look at top talent. Throughout the evening, attendees participate in rapid interviews and spend time networking with other developers. It’s a hectic evening for all parties involved — but the good kind.

HackerX has helped administer similar events for some of the best technology companies in the world: Salesforce, Tesla, Instagram, Airbnb, Twitter, Apple, and Uber — just to name a few. The final guest list for a private event has been thoroughly vetted by HackerX, ensuring attendees fit the bill in terms of their professional skill set. The goal is to connect the right people to the right employer; when it results in a new hire, everybody wins.

Because so much critiquing goes into the guest list, HackerX presents an opportunity for tech companies like us to find something incredibly valuable — a unicorn. No, we’re not talking about those beautiful, snow-white creatures that reside in magic forests (although if you know where to find one, please call us), we’re talking about those incredibly uncommon individuals who embody what it means to be at the top of your game as a technologist.

Are unicorns impossible to find? As Gint Grabauskas, Offerpad’s Chief Technology Officer, puts it, “These folks absolutely exist, are worth fighting for, and will make your team, department, organization, and company better. I know this, because I work with some of them now, and am blessed to have them in my organization. This is exactly the type of people I look for, fight for, and ultimately hire.”

Unicorns wanted

So, what makes Offerpad an attractive destination for unicorns? For starters, we’re a unicorn company — one of those ultra-rare startups growing by leaps in bounds since our initial founding. Since 2015, Offerpad has expanded into 14 major markets across the country with more planned for the future. Just recently, we closed our latest round of Series C financing, fueling even further growth.
