There’s nothing like the real thing
According to some of our in-house history buffs (see also: nerds), there’s a decent parallel to be made between culture and ancient alchemy.
Many centuries ago, people were obsessively attempting to convert common metals like lead into gold. The ability to transmute something easily found within nature into something so rare could literally change your fortune overnight.
Sadly, those efforts were not successful. Turns out those ambitious chemists had a lot in common with the culture committee guy who purchased a cornhole set for his office hundreds of years into the future, thinking it would ‘build culture’ — they ultimately discovered there’s no substitute for the real thing.
Culture at Offerpad
There are a few key ingredients you need to brew a great culture. Firstly, the leadership team should be visible and accessible to employees. The company should have a clear mission that drives them forward. The team should celebrate big wins and company milestones. Employees should have plenty of opportunity for professional development and a voice. It also doesn’t hurt if you work in a cool office.
